Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Cancellation of severance packages for futute lay offs?

Can't Nielsen stop offering severance packags to future terminated employees if it would mean saving millions of dollars and Nielsen could use those millions of dollars saved to keep a few upper management jobs? Why does Nielsen need to give severance packages to low level employees such as field team when they are low skilled? I don't think McDonalds gives severance to cashiers when they close stores or do they? Is it not generous how Nielsen is giving severance like they have done despite the negativity from this board?

Nielsen announced a change to their methodology this week. We will have to see how this impacts the field and phone agents.

Obviously, the person that wrote this has NO IDEA who they have working for them. Most of us are college educated and took the job here at Nielsen for the benefits and the prestige of working for Nielsen. Now that the prestige is gone, most of us are hanging on because of the benefits. Give it time, you will start cutting those too. With those cuts, we will if not already will be seeking other employment.

I would like to key in on the comment from another poster: I wish that we only had to deal with 90 degree weather or dogs chewing on our bags. We get the "best of the best" of America (Insert sarcasm here). We go into homes that:

  • have convicted s-x offenders
  • are ro--h or/& mice infested
  • have people dealing dr-gs or so strung out they cannot function
  • racist a-holes that spew their hate in every direction
  • homes that have situations of elder abuse, child abuse, animal cruelty
  • ur--e soaked floors and furniture. We never know if it is from the dog or the people.
  • Smells that have made us vomit
  • mold encrusted walls
  • structurally unsafe homes
  • irate clients that no longer want us in their home.

BUT it's the basic so you better smile the entire time and keep it in for the whole two years. And the only answer we get from management is, "Have you offered them a gift card?" If we stop throwing money at the bad houses and show the good ones that we really appreciate them, we would have better luck with the sample.

An enterprise must be measure against how they treat ALL their employees.

I think that's the difference in America: You just look on who is successful, on who could sell the invention. In Europe also the inventor is honoured.

Liberty has been exploited by a financial system everyone.has obey to. There is not much on the system anymore for the "lower" employees, so life has become a survival. And not only for them. Try to feed a family. Try to pay increasing rent every month because you couldn't afford a house because you had a divorce etc.

More often because the severance removes rights from the role holder and an non-defamation clause.

Couldn't have said it better!!! What a piece of do---o. These "Low level, low skilled" people are the ones keeping the lights on. The field maintains the Panel, which by the way is the ONLY differentiator between Nielsen and it's competitor(s). Without the "low level, low skilled" people, you wouldn't even have a chance to express yourself so poorly!

DK and KR and your minions, get off this platform and go fix Nielsen 1 .. Choose your words wisely! “Low skilled “ smh… it’s the field that keeps this company afloat! No panel = No data = no currency!

He-l, go fix the budget. We are a TOP HEAVY company, time to trim the management fat! 🙄🙄

If it wasn’t for that “low skilled” field team you wouldn’t have a job in the first place. Go ahead and try to install a panelist home that gives you the data to do your job. Or better yet, go try and recruit them. You have some f+*^ing audacity to call them low skilled. Guess you’re sitting pretty making big bucks in “upper management” and living in meetings all day being “strategic” while sipping Starbucks in the A/C while an MR is walking in 90 plus heat and having to keep a enthusiastic smile or the FR in the back of a dirty TV with the dog chewing their tool bag as they ensure that our equipment is installed correctly and with quality.

Some of these folks live paycheck to paycheck, have mortgages or rent, families to feed, doctor’s bills to pay. The LEAST the company can do is offer some severance to that group. I’ve been around long enough to know that this was never offered in layoffs during the early 2010’s and they just had to figure out.

Get outta here with that bu&|$’it. This kind of garbage attitude is one of the reasons this company is become less and less a great place to work. Disgusting.
