Layoffs won’t stop, at least throughout the week, I believe everybody is aware of that. Any word who could be hit today? Any specific locations or a certain type of employees that could be hit the most today?
Listen, things happen.
I empathize with those who are losing their jobs, but folks have to understand this whole industry is facing a cliff. Ford and GM may not even be able to muster the strength to compete in the age of autonomous vehicles. Cutting jobs to keep the ship... — read more

More work for those remaining.
With the voluntary retirements last year I took on more work. Worked to improve and managed workload. Still cannot keep up. HELL WILL FREEZE OVER before I take in any additional work due to these layoffs. I used to hate hearing "not my job" or being... — read more
UK and Germany Redundancy
Not my post, source below... Not in Germany (based in the UK) but can tell you a bit about the FoE situation. Voluntary separation (including early retirement) was offered last year and apparently it went OK (i.e. enough volunteers) in the UK but... — read more
My time was up today
Was shocked to receive a package today, since I thought I would be safe since I'm relatively young and not on pension plan. Noticed that a lot of the others in my finance department were the doers rather than the talkers that got packages... — read more
Marketing
Seems like marketing is being mostly spared. It’s amazing how times have changed - it used to be more budget was put towards engineering (product/manufacturing) and then IT but it’s now all about marketing. I guess that makes sense in this digital... — read more

I am very concerned...
A group of folks I worked with in IT was let go today. So much talent was lost and it’ll be almost impossible to rebuild. We should all ask ourselves if this company is going to be able to make it going forward. If the cuts stop, maybe but if there... — read more
Survivors Guilt or Did Something Fundamentally Change Today?
I was there in 08, and felt relieved after the all clear. Got the all clear today and felt nothing, dead serious, nothing. Anybody feel the same? I don't know if it was all the delays, the BS huddles, etc, but I did not feel relieved, or happy... — read more

IT - a nasty surprise! Put people last!!
Thanks for catching us off guard. They said IT will be in June, and we lost at least 25+ in the LL ranks. One person was even walked out, contrary to the article. So whatever was said was a lie... And don't even get started on Fords cultural training... — read more

After the smart redesign is over why not give Ford what they deserve. The one thing we as salaried dont do is stick together! Let's get back what we deserve! Not sure if people with less years are aware of this or not... but a long time ago at Ford... — read more
Kumar said IT would be in June, but are some completing this week?
Kumar's message made it sound like IT would have to wait until June, but I see some in IT are already going through SRD. Are some IT orgs done, or are they just spreading out the pain to see who breaks under the pressure?
Difference between SRD and previous layoffs
I've been at Ford for previous layoffs (e.g., Way Forward), but I sense a big difference this time. In those previous layoffs, it was tough, but those of us who remained generally agreed it was usually the low performers, deadwood, hard to get along... — read more
Smart? Redesign
Most of the layoffs that I heard about in I.T. (No, we were not spared until next month) were not the "dead weight" you expect to see let go but some of Ford's more talented people. How is that Smart? Ford has people that browse Facebook all day but... — read more

It’s easy. Stop buying ford trucks. They really are not worth it in the end. Take a long look at your personal balance sheet. Your vehicle is nothing but a debt. No value. We
We’ve had bigger layoffs, but I have never seen people more demoralised

Smart Redesign isn't complete
Ford is not complete with the SRD. There is no announcement for blue collar workers layoffs. 7000 salary cut isn't enough to save the company financially. There will be more cuts, but Ford CEO is not telling the employees or the public.
