Mid June Ford will move to buyout pensions......It's not going to be voluntary folks.
This comes straight from an HR insider. Manditory lump sum pension buyouts are coming within the next 4 weeks in mid to late June. You will be given a lump sum figure and that's it. Ford is getting out of the pension business while they are still... — read more
Ford should drop subsidiaries such as FordDirect to save money.
What real purpose do they (FordDirect)? That company spends a great deal of Ford’s money and is top heavy in management with most managers lacking proper experience and credentials for their salaries. It’s seems silly to continue funding a subsidiary... — read more
This is why you got to look out for #1
It's warm and fuzzy to think about a collective, everyone-wins society where you don't have to worry about meeting your own needs and wants as much, but the reality is you need to look out for #1 first. This is proof positive of this very fact.
I think I’m safe.. in PD
I’ve been reassigned by feeling less and less secure as the restructure rolls out. Apparently the complete redesign will be complete by august? What does that mean for us in PD

How is it to live of your severance until you find a new job?
I imagine it is hard in any case, but how different is it compared to the income you had while working. Job hunting requires a lot of expenses, when do we need to start working if we don’t find a new job and severance is our only income? I would... — read more
Get out of automotive as fast as you can
This is a dying industry in the shape that we know it. Electric cars, autonomous, robot cars, or whatever… have very little in common with the cars that we know today, in the context of production, of course. I would advise all the laid off workers... — read more

Auto industry is about as stable as the oil industry
Had it working for the auto industry. They don't seem to learn from history. Every 8-10 years, they hire too many then have to go through mass layoffs. It's a cycle and been this way for 30 years. Doesn't management see how this is negatively... — read more

Why are people talking about a 5 year plan - were did that come from?
There are several mentions in posts about a 5 year plan to cut 10% each year is still coming. Where is this coming from? If true-ish, will they include more buyouts like the prior two years?
One reason
Can somebody give me ONE reason why this couldn't have been done in one day? Just one reason. I know 500 people is a lot, but they are not all in the same place nor department, so it can't be logistical or lack-of-time related reason. And if it's not... — read more
